I have made the decision to document the hilarity that comes through being an elementary teacher. Naturally, the privacy and general well-being of my students is the most important thing to me, so no real names are used. However, these stories cannot be made up. It's true what they say; kids say the darndest things! These may just be the ramblings of a stressed-out, overwhelmed college student finishing up a teaching degree, but they are my daily reality, and the sweetness of my life. These children are my passion, my fire, and the reason I am able to get out of bed before the sun, and not return home for 12 or more hours at a time. Each day is an absolute treat, through the good and the bad. Nothing makes me happier than boogers, tears, and scraped knees. You know that feeling when you find a brand new video game or make up tool or sports car? When everything just feels right and you can't get enough and stop working to make it better? That is what a classroom is to me. Every hour I spend researching, cutting, pasting, reading, charting, and practicing drives me. I push myself to hear a student say, "Oh! I get it", or to see them smile as the wave of relief washes over them because they finally mastered their multiplication facts. There's truly nothing better; not a million dollars, not a fast car, not a vacation, not even the most beautiful diamond in the world. My kiddos are more rewarding than any of these things ever could be.
